Color Correction & Minus Violet Filtersįigure 1 – A William Optics Gran Turismo (GT) 102mm refractor.Correctors, Focal Reducers & Flatteners. So could I please ask for any views about using these two WO eyepieces, & any other recommendations for any others of a different size or brand that are modestly priced but appropriate for use on this telescope. So that is the only other brand I have any familiarity with but probably couldn't afford to buy their offering. While there I have been using a 14" Dobsonian scope belonging to the observatory with mostly quite excellent 2" Tele Vue eyepieces. I am a member of a group of folks that convene for bimonthly star parties at a local private observatory where the seeing conditions are much better than in my home in the CA desert near Palm Springs with a fair amount of ambient light pollution (no idea where on the Bartle scale but probably at least a 6 or 7). So in order to get the wide views that this 360mm focal length F/5.9 telescope is capable of to see & photograph things like the Andromeda Gallaxy & Orion Complex, I would like to know if others think that either or both of the WO 2" 25mm & 33mm eyepieces would work for this? To use anything smaller than these two sizes would mean a need to reduce down to some of the 1.25" options or purchase other brands of large or smaller diameter eyepieces. ![]() Given my my aging retired eyes, I think I may stick with the 2" option for eyepieces since I also wear glasses & don't know if I will be able to go without them with this setup. So I am looking for a couple of eyepieces that will work for this both as to my initial viewing learning curve & then onto using my camera attached to the telescope. My ultimate plan is to connect my digital mirrorless camera with an adapter that is available for this scope, & using the WO 61A field flattener that also comes with this package, to get into the world of near & deep sky astro photography. While waiting for this to ship to me, I've been looking at the eyepiece options for use with one of the WO 2" diagonals. But I've just purchased a package offered by William Optics that includes their Zenithstar 61 telescope with an iOptron Sky Guider equatorial mount (which can be used with my camera, telescope or both combined) & steel tripod. Initially I've just been taking 20-30 second exposures on a fixed tripod of the night sky, focusing on things like Milky Way & Jupiter the last few nights for example. ![]() My main interest in landscape photography moved into the world of night scapes, & then on into astro photography. I'm an experienced amateur photographer & getting back up to speed as a hobbyist astronomer. ![]()
